19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
