Ten found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.

A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's biological sex.

Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.

The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
